La Madrague, in Hyères, is one of Europe's most renowned kitesurfing spots. Its large fine-sand beach and consistent winds (from east and west) make it an ideal playground for kitesurfing, windsurfing, and foiling. The conditions, sometimes challenging, are better suited to experienced practitioners than beginners, as the launch channel is quite narrow. Beyond the thrill of gliding, the spot charms with its natural setting: clear water, gently sloping sandy bottom, and views of the salt flats and the peninsula. The free parking by the beach is a real plus, though it fills up quickly in summer. It's best to arrive early and respect the designated areas between swimmers and kitesurfers, as the spot gets very busy during peak season.
